1. Make whatever you are teaching FUN !!!
Kids are resilient little creatures that will go along with anything as long as it appears to be fun for them. Kids love to play games and run around laughing and screaming so try to incorporate some sort of FUN into their learning atmosphere. You can acquire FUN by playing games or you can teach them how to spell English words by playing a game such as “Hangman”. It is a good idea to reward the children when they do a good job and accomplish the learning goal for the day. That way the kids will be eager to learn because its it appearing FUN and REWARDING for them.
Always Be Creative!!
It is vitally important that you don’t appear to be boring to these kids. You want to keep them interested in learning and the only way to accomplish that with success is to continuously be creative with your teaching strategies. Come up with new ways to teach and new ways for them to learn. You can master creativity easily if you change up the way you are teaching. For example one day you can use a textbook, and use a overhead projector the next day, and on the third day you can teach using social media. Everyone Loves Social Media!
2. Make it Active!
It is equally important that the kids get exercise while they are being taught. It encourages healthy activity not only physically but mentally as well. This will also help them increase their appetites which will result in the children eating their lunches when the time is appropriate to do so. TPR(Total Physical Response) is a method of teaching that encourages you to associate physical movement with teaching strategies. This way the students move as they learn. It is a win-win situation.
3. Don’t Put Pressure on your Students
It is vitally important that your students don’t feel pressured. When students do feel pressured, it discourages their learning abilities. It also makes them not want to go to school. Ways to avoid putting pressure on your student include but are not limited to these simple behaviors:
Not correcting every error they make.
Modelling correct language use. It even helps to reward them when they are correct.
Don’t give everything that you do a Grade. Learners will be more open to learning if they don’t feel pressured by what their final grade will be. Everyone teaches differently and everyone learns at a different pace.
