Children come to school with certain competencies,a picture or self image and a natural curiosity that is,or should be only briefly overshadowed by the anxiety generated by this new community.
The first responsibility of the school is to provide an environment that will nourish and broaden these aspects of growth. It is no longer a question of whether the child is ready for school but rather is the school ready for the child.
Specifically, this means we must accept each child as he/she is.Support ad encourage him /her to risk uncertainty and to make mistakes.
We must respect his/her view of himself/herself and his/her world. We must create a climate that will foster the best possible growth for every child.
The physical surroundings must reflect our concern for and understanding of children. The results of recent intensive scientific child study allow teachers to arrange appropriate conditions for children`s development with greater certainty than ever before.
The things in this school environment should be reevant, varied enough to challenge each pupil and tastefully positioned or stored within reach of the children. The presence of this rich variety of materials is in itself a stimulus to learning.
To qualify as an accessible resources for children, teachers and principals must accept the advice of Dr. Albert Schweitzer who said,”Only those respect the opinions of others can be of real use to them.”Do you believe a child never gives a wrong answer?
Reliable evidence of a child`s progress is available only when a relationship of mutual trust and respect exists between teacher and pupil.
A school is a place where a child can learn to be a better person and mold every young Filipinos to be a role model in words and actions, as an asset of his/her country just what our national hero Dr.Jose Rizal told that “Kabataan ang Pag-asa ng Bayan.”
