The teacher can be on effective facilitator of learning only when there is discipline and proper classroom management in teaching-learning.
Following are the significant ideas imparted to the teachers.
v Discipline and Classroom Management suggested / specific strategies right at the beginning, set up standards of behavior and allow no exception. Be consistent, gently but firmly. Explain why standards should be followed, every day, the whole year through.
v Establish/implement routine procedures. What to do as soon as students / pupils enter the room, with or without the teacher. How to check attendance, homework, book, etc. listen attentively to the teacher. Ask questions when needed, politely.
v Acquaint students with the learning sequence. Teacher presents lessons, discusses, evaluates / test. So listening, observing and participating are important.
v Have continuous motivation and evaluation. Make classroom recitations / activities lively, meaningful, purposeful, profitable and relevant. Relate lessons / activities to real life situations.
v Provide wholesome, non-threatening classroom atmosphere. As much as possible, make classroom a nice place to stay in. make pupils feel secure, feeling as they do.
Lifetime Skills.
Learners cannot learn all that is needed in life in the classroom. But they should be able to use their skills in learning other skills as they live, when they are already out of their school and far from their homes.
Teachers Personality
Be a model of standard of behavior. Developing pleasing, respectable, authoritative but approachable and non-threatening personality.
There are many other ways of developing pupil excellence that teachers, the parents and the community can do, assuming of course; that the classroom are conducive to learning and well provided with instructional materials.
