As the saying goes, “Honesty is the best policy”. However, in this current situation of education, honesty seems like doesn’t exist. Pages such as ‘Online Kopyahan’, ‘Legendary Student Kopyahan’ and the likes are circulated online publicizing and promoting cheating among learners from elementary to senior high school. Some students’ outputs are also made by some parents that’s why some people jokingly said that parents are the ones who should receive the honor awards of their children.

Despite these issues and concerns regarding cheating, the Department of Education (DepEd) still promotes academic honesty among learners, parents and teachers and does not tolerate any forms of cheating. The essence and validity of learning must be preserved. To produce holistically developed learners, we must uphold our integrity. Supporting dishonesty just to achieve an award or high marks degrades learning process and deprives the learners’ opportunity to explore and discover learning among themselves. Teachers and parents should not only teach our young generations about knowledge and enhancing their cognitive skills but also, we should instill values that they must uphold until they grow old. Grades and honor don’t define who you are but values do.

Achievements from your own sweat, labor and effort is sweeter than the success from cheating and dishonesty. Hand-in-hand let us make each learning and success a valuable and fruitful one.
