William Haley quoted “Education would be much more effective if its purpose was to ensure that by the time they leave school every boy and girl should know how much they do not know, and be imbued with a lifelong desire to know it.”
Social Science teacher really aims to provide the students what they owe to learn and make them realize the rewards they will gain from doing it.
Students should be able to realize that a lot of advantages are generated in studying social science and these are the following:
First, Knowledge in History. By means of studying social studies, the students will be able to have a depiction of history of various groups of people.
Second, Awareness in Facts. The students will be provided with facts regarding events and people. These are significant in creating cognizance on the important information which shape the past.
Third, Background on People. The students will be able to trace how the people were formed, their race, their culture, their religion and the like.
Fourth, Lessons of the Past. The students will be able to identify the moral lessons in history. They will be able to realize that there are decisions and actions that brought harm to humanity.
Fifth, Familiar with Great Figures. It is indeed awesome to discover people who have altruism in serving the country. It is a nice experience to know the people who formed history.
Sixth, Understanding of Culture. Knowing the ways, traditions, beliefs, religion and other forms of living is somewhat interesting.
Seventh, Tolerance of Behavior. By knowing those actions of the people in the past and their reason for those actions, you will develop tolerance in others for you will realize human nature.
Eight, Data on People Attributes. Determining characteristics are very important since you will be able to fit yourself to the type or group of people you are with. Studying social science will help you define the attributes of the different groups of people.
