The wind was blowing hard that day. It was dusk and I had walked a long way just to reach the shore. The waves were beating heavily against the rocks eroding the fine particles, until one day rock and sea would be one. It pained me to see the sight, yet, I did not want to go and leave it all behind. Like the rock, I felt so alone in the world… struggling helplessly against the sea and the wind… fighting for an existence which seemed empty and futile.
Until he came. Twilight turned into dawn. Things became more beautiful. Life acquired new meaning. The wind and sea no longer became barriers, but challenges and opportunities to grow, and to give of myself. I did not mind being eroded because I was no longer alone. There is someone with whom I can share the torment and the pain. He was with me, I was happy.
Today, the waves are beating angrily against that same rock. It is a lonely sight once again… because it now suffers…. alone.
