Nowadays a lot of children are preoccupied with gadgets and other activities. Though they are in the school five days in a week but their full attention to their studies and to the school is not 100 %.

In order to catch their attention and interest in their studies, the teachers should possess the following characteristics, to wit:

Be appealing. The teacher must be pleasing enough to deal with the learners.  He/she should be a person of smile and pleasantness.  He/she should be a person who looks inviting.

Be resourceful.  The teacher’s resourcefulness will have a lot of repercussions.  As a result of the teacher’s, you will get the interests of the pupils since various materials are being presented and they are interesting.

Be creative.  Once the teacher is creative in presenting the lesson through various ways and activities, the learners’ interests will be increased.  The learners love to see that their teacher has inventive ways of teaching them.

Be accommodating. Not all schoolchildren feel the warmth and accommodation in school. So, the teacher is responsible in winning their interests if they will be warmly accommodated and accepted as significant parts of the school.

Be dynamic.  Learners love energetic or dynamic teachers.  Their interests in studying are intensified if the teacher is vibrant and full of energy.  They enjoy seeing at teachers who are soaring high and pushing the best out of them.

Be open to suggestions.  The learners should be given the chance to say what they feel.  In this regard, the child would be more interested in school if he/she is given the opportunity to share and suggest.

Be positive.  Being positive is another effective way of attracting the child’s interest in studying.  The teacher should be positive in his/her views and in everything being said and done.

Be advanced. Definitely what matters to the pupils at present is advancement. Whether in the trend of teaching or technology, the learners would enjoy modern means of teaching them.  That is why teachers should be advanced.

These are the traits of the teachers which will develop, stir and eventually intensify the school learners’ interests in studying.   These will be contributory in creating success in winning their full attention and interest in their studies.
