With the current trend of globalization and fast paced society we are in, it is in implied fact and reality that education has been with this global trend. The world of education has fully embraced the culture of globalization. In this situation, all other factors including both the educators and the learners must be fully receptive with the global change and trends of education. For it is through education that our young learners will be able to secure a sure spot in the global perspective.
Education prepares pour learners, and preparing students takes a multi-step approach, an approach that is spearheaded by school leaders. Without waiting for external help from the state, educators can—and should—create a positive foundation by:
Engaging parents in the academic lives of their children
Recruiting active involvement from community leaders
Utilizing innovative technology in the classroom to teach students skills necessary for real world work environments.
Blackboard Connect through collaboration with Dr. Rudy Crew, suggested ways on how to keep the students competitive, thus ensuring that their motivation is unwavered.
- Support Globally Competitive Students
– Educators today face the task of preparing students for jobs that don’t yet exist, and perhaps more startlingly, these jobs will use technology that hasn’t yet been invented. Students, along the course of journeying inside the world of education, will, at one point, show inclination to a certain field thus honing potential skills on the said field. Through this, as early as the secondary years of the students, educators will be able to determine on what field the students will be successful at in the future.
- Use Communication to drive Global Competitiveness
– The key is communication. Targeted, proactive communication from schools to parents and to the larger community is a critical component in preparing students for their futures. Using tools most districts already have at their disposal, school leaders can build a collaborative education community that works together to ensure each and every student is ready to compete as a full-fledged member of the global workforce.
- Actively involve the greater community.
– In the context of supporting the development of a global workforce, the role of community cannot be underestimated. While teachers and parents are obviously instrumental in learning and support, community leaders provide a critical bridge between students and the new and ever-changing work environment. Mentoring, internships, and other social activities and relationships can help students use and build upon global preparedness skills by participating in real world scenarios.
- Use Mass Notification to drive Global Preparedness
– Proactive, targeted communication is a critical tool in facilitating efforts for driving global preparedness. By connecting with parents and the community, educators enhance their ability to prepare students for a rapidly changing global workplace while simultaneously bringing their extended education community together. In light of existing and burgeoning time commitments and ever-present budget shortfalls, targeted communication does not have to be consuming and overwhelming. Fortunately, thanks to the advancement of technology, there are available tools that can be utilized to help schools and districts save time, money, and create efficiencies.
- Improve student achievement
– Attendance is key because it ties in directly to student achievement. If we can get our students to just come to school, they can pass the state assessments. On this part, it is suggestive that before going in to the complex world of global competition, students must be able to understand the importance of being present, being recognized. Rooting it out to the school calendar, those students who value attendance and being recognized are a step ahead than those who don’t give much weight with attendance.
- Keep parents engaged
– Keeping parents involved is critical to student achievement. Parents must be, at all times, connected and must know every ins and outs of their children’s progress. Parents must show willingness to show support in whatever field their children plans to push through. Parents, like lessons, and teachers, are all crucial to the success of the students and becoming competitive.
Education is like an armor of the students in the 21st century. Without being armored or equipped with the right education, students wont be able to secure a spot in the continuously changing trends in education. Preparation for the student’s success in ten years’ time must be started today. Lastly, students must also be aware that their success is not driven alone by their skills and potentials, it is a combination of all the factors that will keep them globally competitive. Intellectual competence alone is not enough to battle everyone inside the globalizing world of education, right values and right attitude and perspective will even push students
