Technology is tremendously conquering the life of the people. It makes people feel relaxed in most daily life activities. The importance of using technology is to make work lighter than the usual, to make work faster than if it is manually done, and to feel easiness and comfort. But behind these advantages, there are unbecoming results especially to humans.
According to Karl Marx, “The production of too many useful things results in too many useless people”. Every second new inventions have made, and so the people have lessened the chance of becoming part of the industry. People are trying to create new things and make an innovation as fast as they can, but they are not thinking that these inventions may affect other people’s lives and source of income.
Take internet and computer as an example. Through e-mail, messages can be sent easily by the sender to the person he/she intends to give it. The industry of mailmen is abruptly declining through this new system of transferring information. The possibility that a person would bring message to the one he/she loves through ordinary mailing on a post office is lessened. Because of the invention of what we called computer, typists who make letters, reports, and memoranda using typewriter are no longer working on the same area where he excels the most due to the lack of demand. Nowadays, office is looking for encoders who are very much knowledgeable in using computer and its system. Another disadvantage of using this technology is a total DIS-CONNECTION to our love ones. It happens when we think that we are connected through internet, but if you notice this invention makes you more away from each other and eventually you will realize that years have gone so fast without seeing the person you love because both of you rely on the internet.
In the field of education, technologies are very evident. In some other countries like Japan and Korea where robotics are on progress, people are designing and creating robots who can teach student especially the English language. Through robotics, robot can replace teacher in teaching the learners because instructions are programmed on the robot and can be executed the way it is planned. With this, teacher can no longer be part of the educational system if this will materialize. If this happen students can also learn, however the teaching profession may decrease its number. Aside from that, teaching and learning has no foundation of emotions and concerns, because robots cannot give the same sympathy and care teacher can provide for their learners. On the same field like here in our country, technologies have brought some disadvantages. Let us cite using cellular phones. Most of us have this gadget and sometimes it makes us anger to our students because you caught him/her using cellular phone during your class. Teachers who are using technologies are sometimes coming into their classes late, because they are in the computer laboratory where internet connection is available. They are busy visiting their respective accounts on the social media, updating their status, uploading their recent photos, and downloading different applications.
At the end of the day, we should know how to properly utilize these technologies because we have to remember that we should not compromise our life and other’s life and livelihood.
