Bullying is one of the problems encountered by students, teachers, and administrators in public schools. Bullying happens many years ago but was left unnoticed because no one had the courage to act and bring it to the proper authorities, besides, there was no law that penalized bullying before. The Republic Act No. 10627 or the Anti-Bullying Act of 2013 is a law that protects students from bullying and other forms of violence that may be inflicted upon them. Bullying is aggressive behavior that is intentional and involves an imbalance of power or strength. It is a repeated behavior and can be physical, verbal, or relational. Preventing and stopping bullying involves a commitment to create a safe environment where children can thrive, socially and academically, without being afraid. Some of the measures that could prevent bullying are the following: (1) observe and have knowledge because it happens anywhere even on social media; (2) involve the parents and students in the solution; (3) ensure students a safe learning environment; (5) remind students that bullying is not acceptable in school and such behaviors will have consequences; (6) observe children for signs of being bullied in school as parents; (7) teach children how to handle bullying and to take positive actions and lastly, tell it to the proper authorities like teachers, guidance counselors, and school administrators for guidance and action. Make our school a safe learning environment so that bullying will not foster and children feel safe while learning.
