Students should be thankful for having Home Economics subject under Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) in the K to 12 Basic Education Program Curriculum. Students will be equipped with concepts, skills, tasks and knowledge in different components. For instance in baking cakes, cookies bread and pastries or may have manicure and pedicure as another source of income for students under the area of Beauty Care or if you love cooking foods you may ask your teacher to include you in Cookery class.

            Home Economics students are lucky, since the objective of H.E under the K to 12 curriculum is to encourage and develop students’ confidence and self-assurance through the success attained in completing a task, for example, a student successfully baked a chocolate cake, cheese cake, red velvet cake, sponge cake, ice cream cake, bread, pastries and cookies. This will serve as a positive experience for the future.

            Another reason why Home Economics is an interesting and exciting subject is that if equips students with life-long learning. As a student, you may have a chance to have additional income with the applications of lessons learned; for instance, in applying make-up, manicure, pedicure and other areas of H.E. At the same time, teachers are engaging students in an experimental and authentic teaching-learning process.

            Students develop creative and critical thinking through learning by doing. They can be good entrepreneurs, for instance while studying they may engage in online buy and sell. They may enhance their analytical learning skills through helping in problem-solving in the family.

            The students, because of this, will grow with a sense of responsibility through their interaction with teachers and classmates. Learners should focus more time to this subject, as what they are doing with their other subjects. Home Economics will surely offer a lot of learning experience with a promise of success in their future endeavors.
