Each one of us watched science fiction and action movies that showed people being given access to building or restricted areas, not through I.D. cards but by machine reading each ones finger print of a person requesting entry. The strict definition of biometrics is the science that involves the statistical analysis of biological characteristics. However in the most advance technology has adapted the word and changed its meaning and now for most people including teachers “biometrics” means the authentication of people identities by using their physiological characteristics. Biometrics offers some security advantages over other authentication methods. For example, a finger print cannot be transferred to other individuals like punch cards or it is if not forgotten like a pin or password and biometrics cannot be shared with other individuals. Biometrics offer clear conscience to every individual especially in the daily log of attendance.
