Based on DepEd’s Basic Education -Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP), this SY 2020-2021, distance learning is a major component of learning delivery. The DepEd has already adopted various learning delivery options such as blended/distance learnings and other modes of delivery depending on the local COVID Risk Severity Classification and compliance with minimum health standards.

There are some basic reasons that we need to consider in teaching blended distance learning. First is access. We must know if all students have equal and equitable opportunities to full advantage of their education if blended learning is chosen. Second is readiness. We need to consider the aspects of students’ preferences for the form of delivery as opposed to face-to-face classroom instruction and student confidence in using electronic communication for learning and competence and confidence in the use of Internet and printed learning materials. Third is the conditions and situations. The online environment offers unprecedented opportunities for people who would otherwise have limited access to education, but it is important to know first the conditions and situations of the learners. Fourth is the availability of resources. To initiate the change to a blended distance system of learning delivery, it is important to assess the availability of resources for the readiness of the learners.
