All schools in the Philippines are required to conduct a Brigada Eskwela which has also known as the National Schools Maintenance Week.

This annual program has mobilized by parents, teachers, students, civic, and business groups, local government units, non-government units, and other community residents. These stakeholders contributed their time, effort and resources to ensure that the school facilities, teachers, parents and pupils are ready for the opening of classes.

Consequently, Brigada Eswkela has found a very noble undertaking where all stakeholders in different field of expertise voluntarily bound themselves together and collectively worked on the needed preparations for the opening of the school.

In this event, cleaning, repainting, repairing, sprucing up schools are not only the main focus of the school but also the safety of the children as well as their learning facilities.

Equally important, these activities are greatly achieved when the school revived the “bayanihan spirit” by engaging the participation of the stakeholders and by asking the assistance of the people who have knowledge to make the event systematic and equipped to its advocacy.

Accordingly, Brigada Eskwela activities are considered the most effective way in addressing the concern of needed resources. Additionally, this initiative has resulted for more positive changes in the school system because of the volunteers’ active participation to the fact that every individual is essentially an education stakeholder because of their productive labor force.
