What is Brigada Eskwela? Do we really need to give importance to it? How Brigada Eskwela does helps in the improvement of the instructional supervision and attainment of the mission and vision of a certain institution? Brigada Eskwela is a long process to minimize the problems in the school facilities. According to wikiPilipinas, “ Brigada Eskwela also known as the Bayanihan para sa Paaralan is a nationwide voluntary effort of teachers, parents, students, community members and other organizations to do minor repairs and clean-ups on their school in preparation for the start of the school year”. Based from the definition, it a way of saving the school facilities from being destructed as a time goes by. Stockholders like NGO, GO, successful alumni, recognized fraternities, PTA and other concerned organizations like tricyle drivers, drivers, Policemen, Samahan ng mga Mandaragat, Vendors, Firemen and even parent volunteer can do the task included for the beautification of the institution. They have the opportunity to help in the maintenance of the school facilities and be ready effectively for the academic supervision. They can do the job like repairing the chairs, windows, doors, and even prepare some instructional materials to be used by the teachers to be more efficient in teaching the subject matter. It encourages volunteers to give out their time, effort, money and even donate materials to be used such as paint, cement, lumber, sand, gravel, and the like which could be used for minor repairs of classrooms and buildings. Donations from local corporation and business are given in kind, cleaning materials, books, writing materials and some learning materials that can be used by the students during the school year. In simple words, Brigada Eskwela helps the institution in molding better students for the community. It can help the school by providing a conducive environment for the students and teachers to be more effective in the learning process. It allows the community to help the institution for the welfare of the child’s learning. A simple act on how alumni of that institution can bring back the gratitude for being a good citizen with the help of the facilities they used when they are still a student. It is a voluntary act for the students to do while they are learning. Some of the activities involved in this particular program of Department of Education are repairing of the classroom chairs and doors, repainting of walls, cleaning the school vicinity, planting some ornamental or even medical plants in the vacant areas in the school and the like. Some of the teachers take this opportunity to mingle with the students through working with them in doing the activity. It is one of the duties of the teacher to be part of the Brigada Eskwela. Teachers must participate in the beautification of the school in such a way that they do not interrupt their class schedule. Teachers and students help one another for them to learn more efficient and teach effectively. It helps the institutions to attain their mission and vision. The Department of Education supervises this activity for the whole school year and gives an award to those schools who meet the performance attached in the said program.
