Teaching Technology and Livelihood Education otherwise known as TLE has remarkable characteristics to consider. These attributes should be realized by the students and of the entire community in order to give more importance and value to this subject area.

TLE works for the socio-economic goals of the community. The various knowledge and skills being taught in this subject area may be vital in promoting socio-economic development and progress. Hence, TLE teaches the students to uplift their standard of living through giving focus on the activities that pertain to economic concerns.

TLE meets the needs of diverse learners. Since this subject has different components, it is possible for the teachers to address the needs of students, Furthermore, it may suit the skill to the kind of student who needs it and according to his/her inclination. This subject prepares the youth in dealing with the practical world.

TLE provides the foundation for students’ knowledge and skills. The students are very fortunate to have this subject as part of the curriculum because it teaches a lot of basis knowledge most especially skills which are valuable in actual work in the field.           

TLE equip technological literacy.  It teaches technological advancement like in machines most especially about computer.  It educates the child to the important information through internet as a digital source.

TLE deals with specific specialization. Each learner has a specific skill and TLE caters a skill which jibes to the need of each schoolchild. From the simplest to the most complex ones, TLE may attend to those for the benefit of learning.

TLE promotes cooperation and industry. Not only skills are being developed in this subject but also the values of students.  Teaching them cooperation and industry is worthy.

TLE contributes to the overall development of the learner. As a whole TLE is a total package in nurturing every learner.  This subject offers a variety of things which are contributory to the development and progress of the learner.

TLE exposes the students to the actual workplace.  The laboratories, workshops, computer i-hubs and the like are indeed helpful in the actual work of the students.

These are the characteristics of TLE subject which are proven true throughout the years.
