Teaching is the noblest profession for no other profession can be successful without mentors. Nobody can be somebody without teachers’, instructors’ or professors’ guidance. Hence, as the years gone by, teaching controversies arise resulting to the creation of child protection policy. What is child protection policy? Does it intend to protect the child or does it consent their stubbornness?
Child protection policy is one of the latest issue when it comes to the rights of the students whether in school premises or in their surroundings. It intends to protect the child among the adults who are abusing them physically, mentally or emotionally. At home, parents should provide the needs of their offspring and treat them in accordance with the law. In teachers’ case, a simple unpleasant gesture to the children such as frowning or insulting children’s artwork, incorrect answers, hitting the students or making them feel uncomfortable at school are also examples of breaching the policy. When it was promulgated, people in the society reacted. Some of the parents were bothered because of their maltreatment with their offspring. In addition, some of the teachers reacted negatively and positively too.
Nowadays, many citations from the teachers that “child protection policy” make their life harder. As a teacher, we cannot do bullying, insulting, physical and emotional assaulting and the like which will degrade or demoralize the child. Even frowning at a child is not excuse. However, we can hear and watch news reporting about child abuse done by the teacher. Some are putting their students inside the cabinet, did something horrible to their students and bully them.
If that’s the case, can you resist it if the child starts to annoy you? Can you bear handling them every week days?
Do you still care for them?
This policy intends to protect the rights of the little generation and making them feel safe whenever they are. According to the speaker of the seminar I attended before, upon the formulation of this policy, all we can do with our students is to love them. Give love and it will bounce back. If we will love them unconditionally, we will learn how to appreciate the things that they are doing. We can build better rapport not only to the students but also a harmonious relationship to their parents.
