Classroom set up is very important to how a classroom is being managed. The teacher have to ensure that his/her classroom is arranged for the students to be productive most of the time. The teacher also needs to make sure their classroom has a positive environment for the students as they enter the classroom.

The teacher also needs to consider that their classroom should be ready for learning everyday. It is essential that you understand that in order to manage a classroom with proper discipline, a product and active classroom set-up is vital. The students need to be put in an arrangement that will keep them focused on the lesson and not discourage them from learning.

Here are some ways to arrange your classroom properly, particularly for lower elementary classroom set up:

1. The classroom is arranged in centers. The students will sit in groups of six in four different groups. The purpose behind the groups is that the students will be able to learn how to work with others. The students will also be able to motivate each other to do their work. The desks are arranged in the middle of the classroom to allow the teacher to walk around the room freely. Also, the teacher will be able to control the students in a more compact area. The setting of the desk will also help students to stay on task.

2. In the corner of the classroom, you can provide a “cozy” reading nook. This area will provide a relaxing feeling and help the students to feel comfortable as they read when they are in this area. It will also be a place for students to go to when they are done with their task and want to read a book in a cozy are. The area can also help cut down on behavior problems for the teacher.

You can create more helpful spaces as you go along with your classes. The aim is to create an environment conducive to learning and improve your teaching performance as well as lessen possible behavior problems which can be triggered by poorly arranged classrooms.
