Hygiene is defined is a science of the establishment and maintenance of health. It is about the things we keep ourselves and our surroundings to maintain good health.
A well-maintained house is a home for a family. A place of work is conducive when its environment is kept clean and in order. Likewise, when a school is spic-and-span it becomes more invigorating in promoting good study of habits for students.
Decades of years back, there was this TV commercial which until now still serves a lesson about the attitude of people throwing their garbage anywhere. As the rain comes, the thrashes that were carelessly thrown out come back to them with the flood stream. Time and time again the message is reliving itself that even nature speaks out how irresponsible disposal of garbage will adversely affect the way we live.
We are witness to the many cleanliness drive in communities, but the proper practice of disposal of waste is still in vain. Tons and tons of garbage are collected by the general service of health office, but ironically we can see trash on every pavement and road spreading out in volume. Primarily, it is all about self-discipline and without it responsibility over something that is literally doable remains futile.
The cleanliness of surrounding can be a perfect shield for human in controlling diseases and to better put it, good hygienic practices can prevent various types of illnesses. In the long term, discipline must always go with constant practice which will soon be a habit that uplifts character. When everybody has the same mind-set, the community of man will be the beneficiary to this noble deed. When everybody participates, rest assure that all of us can be the solution to the perennial problem of our society in the area of waste disposal.
There will always be the coming of the next generation. It is us, in this present time to provide for their important need. Clean air, clean water and clean environment. As a legacy, let us prepare something good for them when cleanliness be part of true godliness in the future
