Being a kindergarten teacher is a big challenge. You’ll be working with a number of 5-year old children of different personalities and abilities. As a loco parentis, a kinder teacher could easily identify problems that could affect the learning of kindergarten pupils.
The following are the common behavioral problems a kinder teacher could encounter:
- Refusing to follow directions because they are engrossed to playing and they still do not want to engage in learning activities. With this situation games could be utilized as a strategy to facilitate the teaching-learning process and to get the attention of the pupils.
- Misbehaving to catch undivided attention of the teachers is another problem. A kinder pupil, sometimes be a bully and unruly to have the attention of the teachers. This instance could be avoided if each and everyone in the class understands that the teacher has to divide his/her time between the pupils.
- Temper tantrum to get out of their frustration. A kinder teacher should know what to do in case tantrum triggers or else the whole class will be affected. If the lesson is sometimes very challenging to a pupils should be given assistance and extra time for him to cope up.
These are only few among other behavioral problems. Although these could challenge you, you can learn many things from it. Jones quoted,” You can learn many things from children. How much patience you have for instance.” But teacher has a lot of influence in correcting pupil’s misbehavior. Thus, a kindergarten teacher should help the child to remember and feel that he is taken care of and loved.
