Getting into the world of technology has been giving us benefits and pleasure in various forms. People depend too much on its promise that technology will make life easier. For many years of living in the age of computers, this promise has been proven true to its context. Computer is the answer. Computer is life.
People in different areas of the world started to realize the significance of computers and the services it may offer in our daily living. It is indeed that computer makes life easier for humans. This notion has become part of most of the demands in community, school, offices, establishments and the like.
Let me give an example on how big the impact of technology in our generation. Two individuals applied for a clerk position in a certain company. One was a newly graduate while the other one has a three-year experience in the same field. It’s not surprising at all that the newly graduate, without experience yet, was chosen over the other. Being a computer literate, in point of fact, was his strength as an applicant.
We could still remember, though, many years ago, when computers are non-existence yet, some of the qualifications of an office clerk were the abilities to compile, communicate with the employees, answer phones, write reports, update fillings, disseminate information, operate office machines and others. Now, what you only need is to be a computer literate.
Reports, school forms, certifications and many more are expected to be prepared through Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, or Powerpoint Presentation. Actually, the whole preparations are done using computers. Certainly, most of the work of an office clerk is a computer reliance. An office clerk is a complex role which requires a range of computer skills. This kind of job is a tangible proof that we are already living in the age of computers, that technology does make our life easier.
Using computer is not everytime on the side of the office clerk.Stress arises when, suddenly, something goes wrong with the computer and important files can’t be recovered anymore. Starting all over again is the only solution. This is one of the disadvantages of computer reliance. However, having more knowledge on how to recover and unhide files is an advantage.
Sitting the whole day in front of the computer is stressfull and fulfilling at the same time. As an office clerk, this is already the scenario but the computer accommodates all his duties and responsibilities consistently.
As the demand for computers gets bigger and wider, the desire to be computer literate is also at its peak.
