Computers are an electronic device that executes certain actions through user-based commands. It is helpful to humankind because it offer a wide range of functions and services that makes life easier. This is widely used in almost business offices, in hospitals and clinics, in any government organizations in order to complete daily tasks and even at home for work and entertainment purposes. Computers also an aid to education because it has an advantage of better presentation of information, has audio-visual tools that are ready to use and help in quick communication between students, teachers and parents.

                Computers have become an inseparable part of our lives to a great extent particularly in the field of education, their uses are manifold;

  1. Making Knowledge Interesting – by introducing the audio-visual method of learning, computers have made education interesting. As communication systems enhance, education will change for better- computers will make our children more curious, knowing that the answers to their questions are at hand. Using computers imaginary and supporting audio become easier to explain several different concepts to the students.
  2. Presenting Creative Options – with all the creative software at hand, it has become easy for students to jazz up their assignments and projects; assignments have become activities that students look forward to from their earlier mundane form.
  3. Being a source of Knowledge – the internet is now what once used to be the library. It is easier to access, along with being a convenient and reliable source of information. With bulky computers now being popularly reduced to hand-held devices, students literally have information readily available.
  4. Reducing Paperwork – computers have more or less eliminated paperwork in the administration section of education. Anyone can do with printing brochures, application forms, admission and other administrative documents, resulting in procedures that are cost-effective and environment friendly. Test has also become online, making assessment procedures easy for teachers and professors.

Importance of Computer to Education

                With an increase in the widespread use of computers and their ever-so-increasing popularity, computer education has become the need of the day and computers become an integral part of our lives. Be it desktops, laptops or tiny computers that embedded in smart phones and other smart devices, the use of computers hold several advantage for students, teachers and administrators today. Computers are no longer specialized tools to use by specially trained people. They are ubiquitous and used in almost every sphere of life. Computers are the best means for storage and management of data; they can serve as huge knowledge bases, which are a great help to everyone most especially to education.

 

Role of Computer in Education

                Computer teaching and interactive learning play a key role in education Right from elementary school to large universities, computers have influenced every educational system. It changed the way we work, be it any profession. Computers play a vital role in every field like education. This is why the education system has made computer education a part of school curriculum. Through computers imparting education has become easier and much more interesting than before while students conversant with the use of computers have better chances of landing good jobs, as computer literacy is the need of present times.

Computers have leapfrogged the human race into another league. They are now used in each aspect of human life. They have spearheaded the human quest of eradicating social problems like illiteracy and poverty and even the personal one. It is difficult to imagine a world bereft of computers. This revolutionary technology is indeed a boon to us all.
