School children are always full with homework except on weekends when they are supposed to be enjoying the time bonding with the whole family.   The assistance given by parents on the accomplishment of homework is vital to the children.  However, such assistance must be indirect.

The best the parents can do is to provide the children with a good work environment where he can do the homework.  That is, provide the child with a fixed room with good lighting and ventilation conducive to doing the homework.  The identified place must be void of telephones, television and other distracting decors.  Likewise, children should be encouraged to study at a specified time best convenient to them.  Good study habits can be acquired when a child studies at a fixed time at the fixed place of study everyday until it becomes a habit.

At the same time, parents can provide for self-help tools like dictionary, thesaurus, books of poetry and the like.  And while studying, parents should avoid interruptions like giving errands and loud conversations.  It is also important to avoid comments and other sounds which interfere with the child’s mental work.

Providing the child with a good environment for studying will be beneficial and it will bring more pride to the parents who will surely be proud of the child’s achievement.
