The world is fast changing. Ideas, practices, concepts, principles and rules maybe appropriate or relevant today, but tomorrow will be different.
Continuous review, testing and evaluation are called for; hence, quality improvement is significant. This maybe the precise reason quality improvements were generated. Continuous quality improvement is a concept that includes the following:
- Quality assurance — the provision of services that meet an appropriate certain standard. It has a defined cycle called PDCA: Plan, Do, Check, and Act.
- Problem resolution–including all departments involved in the issue to be resolved.
- Quality improvement–a structured approach to evaluating the performance of systems and processes, then determining needed improvements in both functional and operational areas.
According to Natenstedt, every successful Quality Improvement (QI) plan needs a champion. “The most important factor contributing to successful implementation is highly committed senior leadership. For any quality improvement process, you need that a leader who wants to make it happen. Success comes because someone at the top is pushing for it.” Quality improvement has been espoused not so long ago. It is a total system reform to achieve quality improvement, not only substituting the status quo, but a revolutionary change. It must be assumed that those who provide services are acting in good faith and are not intentionally failing to do what is correct.
Constant call for improvement not only among teaching personnel but also the non-teaching personnel in the Division of Balanga, particularly in the Senior High School is a must to ensure the quality of services to the clients especially the senior high school students who are expecting education, entrepreneurship, and employment after graduating from the last phase of K-12 program. Despite some predicaments, qualitative improvements and achievements in BNHS-SHS are still notable. This includes a slight increase in the number of higher-education faculty holding higher degrees. The percentage of teachers’ master’s degree continually grow and few are also enrolled in doctoral. Division of Balanga also sustains quality improvement trainings to streamline the management of quality improvement exertions as an effective way to realize success. Kudos to teachers who are attending seminars/trainings at their own expenses to achieve constant call for improvement in their professional growth. The people who perform direct services are in an advantage position to identify the needs towards change in service delivery.
