The year 2020 has brought upon countless and continuous challenges to the Filipinos and the Philippines as a whole. The beginning of the said year was welcomed by the sudden explosion of the Taal Volcano and even before the people fully recovered from the explosion, the sudden outbreak of the Coronavirus 19 occurred which started the new yet full of challenging life of Filipinos.

The Covid 19 has created a huge pandemic that forced the Philippines and every other country to be on lockdowns. This is the main reason as to why many establishments, particularly schools were closed and shut down. The closing of all schools in the country has hindered the learning of all students wanting to learn. Instead of being able to learn through traditional methods of learning, the students were forced to adapt to the transition to distance learning. Despite all the challenges that distance learning brought upon the learners and the educators, everyone was still able to rise above the challenges.

As the school year 2021-2022 comes to an end, it is important to take notice that this has been the second year of distance learning and the students as well as the teachers did not stop at any second instead, they continue to strive harder and harder which brings us to the current situation in which schools will be reopening for face to face classes again on the next school year.

When we talk about school and education in general, academic achievements are sometimes the thing that comes first to mind. In this time of pandemic, it is important that we recognize every student, especially those who have academic achievements because studying in the midst of a pandemic is a true challenge. Moreover, it is not only the academic achievers that we need to recognize but also every student with and without academic achievements because being able to finish a school year with distance learning is a huge achievement itself.

The achievement of a students is not only measured by his academics but also by his values and resilience during challenges.
