“Education is a controlling grace to the young, consolation to the old, wealth to the poor, and ornamnet to the rich.”

This quote brings us the  fact that the changing trends in education is a reality.  Among these is globalization in which our country tried to find ways to empower education with the fast uprising   of technologies.  Because of the great impact of globalization in education, the Department of Education resorts to the training and improvement of the most important  assets – the teachers. The resiliency and readiness of the teachers brought about by the 21st century,  pride itself for upgrading and levelling to cope with the standards in education brougth by changes and new trends in educating the youth.  With the way teachers are coping and working to meet them shows how concerned it is in following the trend of globalization, the best leading pack.

Technology has also made education global. This is what we mean by globalization, every aspect of the new curriculum is nowspiral, intertwined, connected, not isolated, exist, participate and be competitive and efficient in all aspect of the learning areas. How we educate the minds of every Filipino youth in writing, reading and speaking will determine if they are ready for the next generation in life.  Education plays a vital role in the ablity of the country to thrive in the globalized world of competition which our youth is being prepared with.

To be able to cope with the standards in education, we must be prepared for the following:  First, to train the teachers to adapt in the fast changing trends in education .  Second, to survive the intense local and global competition for the needs of the learners in the new curriculum.   And lastly, to stand out among others, excel and be noticed and noted worlwide.

Hence, the ability to speak and write English is crucial and it gives the young Filipinos the trademark of being a “competitive advantage.”  An official of British Council, in an interview, gave these important words of advice. He uttered, “English is an important tool for operating in the world stage.” “The ability to speak and understand  English is mandatory in certain fields, profession and occupation,” he added.  English is the medium of instruction used in teaching some subjects, in fact it is so widely spoken that made it as the “lingua franca” of the modern era.  It is also the language of international business and used in commucating with others.  Teaching English is not about imparting an understanding of the parts of speech, subject-verb agreement and correct pronunciation and grammar, but it is about raising up the youth who will cope up and excel in this age of globalization an be globally competitive.
