According to research, “The most widespread management technique at home and in the classroom is NAG, NAG, NAG and it is also probably the least effective”.
How can a teacher avoid making that technique and create an effective climate for learning in a better way? We knew that, classroom management is one of the most essential skills to become an effective classroom teacher. Teachers, who possess the ability to manage their class’ lessons, are able to create an environment where learning is the focus despite of the disruptive behaviour of students.
There are many theories on how to become positive and encouraging classroom managers. While all these theories are emphasize different aspects of discipline and behaviour. All have proven to be valuable methods for improving management in the classroom. There are lots of resources for us teachers to use when developing behaviour management programs in the classroom. Ultimately, teachers must use the approach that works for them and the students they teach.
Each approach has its strengths and weaknesses. Our target is to provide a classroom where students feel comfortable in their environment so that they can reach their full educational potentials. Studying, evaluating and applying these approaches in this field, I can conclude that I have more strategies that I can use in my own classroom. One thing that I can share is that, the best way to learn how to be a good classroom manager is to see educators doing positive and negative things and learning from their successes and mistakes.
Another is on making rewards and punishment. A simple tap on our student’s shoulder for a job well done; recognizing their achievement to the whole class and using creative and innovative ways are often the means to motivate and excite our students more often. We can give positive punishment that will make beneficial and helpful to misbehave and problem students.
I believed that no one is perfect, and, no one can do everything right every time. Teachers and students should embrace this fact and understand that the goal is for everyone to do their best. This belief is an important part of creating my climate for learning’s philosophy. By using the techniques I have observed, learned and used, I will be able to cover more material and curriculum better, but, I will also be able to prepare my students better in their later life.
