What can teachers do to create an environment that is conducive to learning? Our essential characteristic of effective teaching is that it has to be responsive to the individual needs of pupils. Teachers must be sensitive to individual differences. Teachers who alter instructions to accommodate individual differences send to message that they want to reach their pupils all the time.
Efforts on the part of the teachers must be exerted so that pupils become more attentive and responsive. Calling pupils by name signifies a positive relationship. Asking pupils to com to the front of the room so that they are closer to each other encourages more participation than with pupils scattered around the classroom. Staying before and after class to talk to pupils also help ease pupils anciety. Teacher can foster a safe climate by insuring taht they never ridicule a pupil’s question or remarks.
If you really want a classroom where pupils come to work diligently, you need to take the subject seriously, because if you don’t do it, neither will your pupils.
