Man, the molecule of society, is the subject of social science. — Henry Charles Carey.  It is an indication that students need to learn the basic elements of the humanities and social sciences where the people are in the center of the study.Indeed, the humankind is the focus of attention in social science.

            Social science is the study of society and its people and the way these people behave and interact with each other.  The people being the key players in the society who greatly affect the community where they live became the focus of social science subject.

            Understanding the origin, race, group and community of men will be instrumental in creating awareness regarding our society. We will be able to have the concrete background of the different kinds of people in various nations comprising the world…thus global awareness can be achieved.  Through social science instructions, the learners will be able to realize the importance of the awareness in society and how to deal with others.

            The human society in different aspects like community governance, employment, economic growth, economics and the like are the concerns of social science.  With these, we will be able to understand the nature people as they live in a certain group or society. These show that men are active players in various situations as they face the different events in every day happenings.

            The vast knowledge on people’s undertakings is completely included in social science. From the ancient times up to the present, we would be able to have a taste of the lives and experiences of various people who formed the human civilization and of the entire human race.

            Creating societal awareness regarding the world and its people would be made very possible by means of comprehensively teaching the data or information about the people, their respective countries, their development, their progress and all of their endeavors.

            Social science would be leading us to global perception and human understanding which results to societal awareness.

            Global perception is looking at the varied groups of people having different cultures, ways and traditions.

            Human understanding is the way to tolerate the beliefs, principles and ideas of other people.

            Having global perception and human understanding brought by social science will eventually expand our horizon of having an awareness of the world.
