THE ability to think not just literally, but analytically, critically and creatively is among powerful and valuable of all human capacities. It is first allows us to understand and appreciate realities and rise above it in a new exciting ways. It is what envision us to the seemingly impossible and then implement it is possible.
It is an ability everyone has to one degree or another but it is also a skill that can be developed. And that includes not only students and teachers but also the managers in our educational system. In management creativity can launch major projects and untangle minor problems. From the chief executive or director general down to the ground supervisor or ordinary officers can acquire useful creative tools and techniques to become more effective managers. It is well known that one of the most important and valued traits in managers is the ability to come up with new ideas applicable in their daily work.
Creativity is associated with imagination, process, generating ideas and novelty. Creativity however does not exist when one goes into dormancy. One concrete example is a seed. When a seed is planted during its dormancy never will you expect that seed to germinate. Likewise a teacher in her desperate days never gives her best.
A creative teacher is not only teaching for the sake of routinized activities. She is there to established impact in the lives of the learners. A creative teacher is prompted to do her best in the pursuit of creative expression and artistic fulfillment. A creative teacher is one who is still growing and one who is seeking to improve here teaching.
