Technology has been one of the greatest factors of positive learning (Dixit, 2024). It has proven its limitless power in improving the learning process of a child in one way or another. With technology making our life more convenient and easier, learning also becomes such.

With the various types of technology utilized in every corner of the world, multimedia step onto the platform and proved that it can be the key to a child’s holistic learning inside the setting of a classroom or even outside the boundaries of the academe.

Multimedia in education, according to Singh (2020), is an advanced type of technology that combines the utilization of data, text, audio, graphics and video in a digital form. It offers a modernized way of delivering an information and leaves a greater impact on learning to its user.

Teachers, for example, are the most common users of multimedia. In order to make their class dynamic, innovative and modern, the facilitators of learning resorted to the utilization of multimedia especially nowadays that schools are becoming more equipped with advanced technological equipment. Multimedia resources allow the learners to explore more and widen their knowledge as they are more motivated to learn because of the technology in use (Almara’beh, Amer & Sulieman, 2015).

Furthermore, multimedia has shown beneficial learning advancements to its student users according to Digital Learning Institute. The first advantage is that it improves and hones the learners’ problem-solving ability because it is interactive and stimulating. It forfeits the traditional way of learning process where students are required to learn by engaging themselves in reading lengthy articles in textbooks and other references.

The second one is it enables the learners to foster deeper comprehension of what the material truly contains. According to Richard Mayer’s theory known as the Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning, the utilization of multimedia uses multiple channels in our brain in processing information which leads to even deeper comprehension.

Since multimedia uses a combination of audio, video and data, it is proven to develop higher positive emotions which are critical in the learning process. When learners acquire and develop their positive emotions, it can increase their level in solving problems, creative thinking and retaining information which when combined leads to an effective learning.

Due to the emergence and limitless power of the internet, the access to knowledge have never been easier during this new generation of tech-savvy learners. In fact, both teachers and learners benefit in terms of accessing information they need for any topic they want to focus on.

The last major benefit of multimedia is that it can offer and immersive learning opportunities to its users most especially the learners. Since multimedia incorporates the usage of images, audio and videos, it freely provides the chance of first-handedly exploring the content of what they want to learn.

While we think we are now blessed with the power of technology particularly the multimedia, it is without a doubt that it will still transcend to a new generation of limitless possibilities and opportunities for a child’s better and effective learning.
