Digital Age: The New Generations Point of View

Recently, I went to a Coffee shop near a College University. The place was crisp and the interior is modern Victorian inspired. I line up to order. I feel like having a coffee frappe today. While I was on the line I saw at the counter the username and password of the Coffee Shop, it’s still the same they didn’t replace it with a new one. Maybe they have no idea what to replace it with.

After I order I went to my table. My friend was late so I browse to Facebook on my phone while I was still waiting for her. After a while I look at the table next to me, there are 3 ladies on that table, I believed they are college students because I recognized their uniforms. All of them are busy browsing through their phones. No one is speaking, the only sound you will hear is the straw from the sip of the frappe.

This generation of X, Y and Millennials, where digital age is spread all over the planet. It is what we breath and as I saw it what we eat. Conversation loss its value. Personal meetings became bland. Because their focus is all in the internet. What happens in the social media? What’s in their news feed in Facebook? Who is trending in twitter? Who follow them in instagram? And how many share their blog. And let’s not forget the trending video in YouTube. Who’s going to be the next discovery of the YouTube sensation?

That’s what going on with the new generation and how they use the technology. My friend’s that I follow in instagram, every time they dine out they have pictures of their food and take note all in different angles. And some of my friends in Facebook I ‘am updated with what’s going on in their relationship. First monthsary, second monthsary even their lover’s quarrel all are broadcast in the web.

But having said that, social media is not all about that. There are also good side of it. Like if you follow the news sight like ANC and GMA news you will have the first hand of what’s happening in our country. And other Government sight to be updated of what new Laws they have implemented. Like the recent renewal for Licence Nurse. Its state that before you can renew your card you need to complete certain points that you can get from seminars or volunteer at different medical missions.

As our Grandparents have said all thing that are too much is bad for you. Too much exposure in social media can harm yourself socially or emotionally. Cyber bullying happens not just only in our country but all over the world. What you put in the net remember hundred and thousands of your friend’s friends sees it. So just like the famous tagline of one giant network in our country says “think before you click”.
