Adults of today meet a bunch of problems when it comes to child discipline. Young children of today almost dominating our population, influenced by technology where they were being born. The answer to their needs are right at their fingertips from a simple to more advanced gadget. Depending themselves to the amenities of this method. Everything are very useful when used in the reason it was discovered, utilized and provided to us. To some extent, in an interfering manner it is such a great destruction to our adolescents. Home-related problems also have significant involvement.
Discipline is training thatcorrects, molds, or perfects the mentalfacultiesor moral character. It should not threaten, violate the right, devastate a life of a person. It should be first imposed by the family where a person belongs. A person must have been formed by who acted as his legal guardians, biological or not. To provide it, they may had also lived according to the proper discipline or else an experience in the improper execution of this may become a chain of problem. Psychology says that if a person experienced violence at his young age can also practice the same at his later age in life to another person.
School when it comes to discipline is a subordinate of home. A place next to their household to help shape them to be better citizens of their community. Several factors arises as this discipline becomes an enormous problem not only at home or at school but also in our community. Students misbehave at school for so many factors. They usually experience different family problems such as broken family, a parent who haven’t told anything to their family and just went away from them without any information where they are right at the moment they were needed, the unemployment of their parents that results to students working like being a servant to other families or they were also sent to become fisherman and others, working at a very young age which should not be happening at the time. Parents may be together but they were the ones showing misbehavior like having petty fights even in front of their children or showing this to the public without being ashamed of their acts. A very poor status that lead to being unable to send their children to school. Uneducated parents to teach their children of the importance of gaining knowledge. As this continues to happen, it becomes a cycle and these never end. Government is another factor. If only it could provide the needs of its people then we could eliminate these problems. We could help together provide proper guidance and rear children properly.
All of the collected factors are how children were molded by their environment. Reasons why it is a very complicated task at school for teachers to sometimes misunderstood this young minds. The very rooted justifications of child misbehaviour influenced by other environmental aspects. Outside their home, adolescents feel a sense of independence. With the confusion in their minds they are experiencing, whatever problems they face, they tend to engage to such vices as cigarettes, alcohol, marijuana to prohibited drugs, gambling, cutting classes that result to staying outside classrooms or going out of school premises and enter computer shops, play video games or use internet out of their limitations, distracted minds results to misbehavior outside their home, lack of focus at school activities specially studies, conceited, stubborn, and make a fool of their parents.
It is still not too late. As a teacher I do observe students show behavior which is the same with their parents. Today I observe most parents also show unacceptable behavior like simply misconducts and being unmannered when they attend to school conferences or any visitations. A simple example is how they show up themselves like improper clothing, wearing of caps, eyeglasses, and chewing gum while talking to teachers. If their son/daughter were being aggrieved by their classmate or other student, some do not consult the teacher instead goes through the child directly and start to almost hurt or threaten him/her. Inappropriate isn’t it? Incidences of today are uncontrollable and hard to understand, but as educators we should not become weary of teaching and talking to both student and parents. Parent-Teacher Conferences and continuous guidance, home visitations and never ending understanding of these situations will make us be patient and have long perseverance to perform our role. The environment is ever changing. Let us help impart to everyone to still inculcate the proper manners and conduct to help change this setting in our society. We are given the burden if parents function to their children is not evident. Let us work together for the changes we aspire for. Students also look to their teachers as their second parents, so if they will be trained accordingly like the Proverbs says, Train up a child in the way he should go, and even when he is old he will not depart from it. The most important responsibility lies in our hands.
