Technology is in a rapid change. Developers are then required to cope up with the technological discoveries worldwide. Will this rapid change be applied for education? Will this contribute to its continual improvement? E-learning is one of the learning platforms that accompanied education with modern technology.

In this platform, courses are given online. This platform promotes learning at home. Diplomas can be attained even without personal interaction with the educator. In this platform, education is in the tip of our fingers. While this platform is innovative, it has not fully adapted in the Philippines. However the top university, University of the Philippines (UP) has offered courses online. UP has implemented their distance learning for years.

But how does a top university permit programs such as this? The answer is simple. This only shows that UP believes on the effectiveness in e-learning. Would e-learning be implemented on grade school and high school? Implementing e-learning to grade school and high school is another story. Unlike in college in which students may be workers and has no time to go to schools, e-learning is a perfect solution. However, when it comes to grade school and high school in which, students are supposedly just students, e-learning is not suggestive.

While e-learning is an alternative for educating students, it also posts some disadvantages. One of these is the limited interaction between the educator and the learner. This interaction facilitates learning. Thus, having this interaction, improves the process of learning. Another disadvantage is the access of students to the technology needed to facilitate this platform. Not everyone has computers at home, not everyone has internet access. Thus, full implementation of this platform is yet inapplicable for now. E-learning has been a solution for the overpopulated classrooms in the tertiary education, however, the full implementation of this platform would be restricted for grade school  and high schools students.
