Earning Masters and Doctorate Degrees are of great advantage for promotion in ones status in teaching but can also be of great advantage in teaching itself. The increase in the level of knowledge from Bachelor’s Degree to Master’s Degree to Doctorate Degree is incomparable that such knowledge can be attached to teaching higher levels in K to 12 curriculum.
For example, in Graduate Studies, students study research and statistics. As we all know, Quantitative and Qualitative Research are now given among Senior High School students. If you haven’t undergone Graduate Studies it is impossible to teach such subjects given the research in Bachelor’s Degree is not in depth and though Statistics can be taught by Math teachers and some Science teachers the degree of Lessons in Statistic during Bachelor’s Degree is limited. Another example is Science in Senior High School which is divided into specific areas of study, Biology I and II, General Chemistry I and II, General Physics I and II, Earth Science and Disaster Risk and Reduction. Senior High School Sciences are in depth giving more emphasis to lessons introduced in junior high school like the study of molecules of fats, carbohydrates and minerals found in the body which in Senior High School it is taught with a bit if chemistry. In this case, a teacher graduated from CTP from a different Bachelor’s Degree connected in the study of Science may teach the subject. But, CTP teachers may not be proportional to the number of students or sections need to be taught so we will still return to the idea of earning an MA and Doctorate degree. Lastly, earning Graduate Studies Degree affects professional’s behaviour and character. Senior High School students are the supposedly First and Second Year College students from the old curriculum. Who they are dealing with and the type of their surrounding contributes to their maturity. A teacher matured enough in the way he teaches and behaves most likely not only to get a thumbs up and a lot of AHHHs from students but to be imitated also because humans are affecting beings.
Greater than promotion, we can look at earning Graduate Studies Degree as a way to promote teaching.
