It’s better to suffer the pain of education, than to suffer the pain of ignorance.
This is just one of the many self-reflecting statements about education.
Education makes a person easy to lead, but impossible to drive; easy to govern, but impossible to enslave. With the high cost of living, tantamount to the high cost of education, many of the low-income families still try to send their children to school. It is a fact that parents who painstakingly send their children to school are prompted by three factors. First, they themselves are among the “unfortunates” who did not finish a college education, and because of this, they don’t want their children to experience what they have experienced. There are many embarrassing situations that they were in, and this would have not happened if they were able to pursue a better education. Secondly, they believe that education is a wealth they can give to their children. Yes, they have everything money can buy, but all these would vanish, unlike education which will forever be theirs and theirs alone even unto death. And the last, they also believe that one way to gain recognition in a society, one has to be educated.
Some say that the educated person manifests a wholesome attitude which is not necessarily be a result of education, for a person could be “educated” even without it. But any person could be far better off if he has a diploma. Life is a harsh thing. To compete with others and win, you must have the necessary document … your diploma.
