“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” -Nelson Mandela. We, humans were the only species on earth who can deeply understand complex things. We have also the knowledge to differentiate right from wrong. We have a capacity to do things using our mind. We can do all these things when we study, where we do use Education. It is a necessity for each human to be educated. But despite of millions of poor families in the world, can they still be a part of this generation of materialistic world where education is highly needed?
In the Philippines, as of 2014, there are 15 million kids who are deprived of basic needs such as food, clothing and most of all education. These children have their own different reasons of not going to school for education. Others were used by their parents to work for them. Many of them are just walking in the streets, begging for either money or food. These children badly need to be educated. Not because they are begging around but for their future, they may be thrown into different vices if not educated. Good thing many Non- Government Organizations (NGO) help educate these children in deep poverty. On the other hand, many of the poor children who are helped by this NGOs are clearly seen with deepest determination to study to make their lives rise in poverty.
Education is necessary to this generation. We are living in a world full of knowledge that is why we need to study even though it is hard, we make mistakes then. But then when we realize we are wrong, we will understand its fruits later on just like Aristotle said, “The roots of education are bitter, but the fruits are sweet.” The poor children may be rich one day because they sacrifice once then later they will harvest the fruits of their sacrifices.
