The 21st century, a distant milestone for several fiction writers and futurist, is here now. Globalization and competitiveness is the primary aim of the Philippine Education 2010.

It is indeed, a rare privilege from this generation to witness the passing of one millennium to the other. It is a moment of challenge to this generation to find their place in the brave new world. It is a world where only the fittest can survive, and everyone is racing on the first track with no one waiting for the others.

For a country to survive, the rapid change in information technology and the improvement of its productive capability, it must have a knowledgeable and well skilled manpower base, a teacher. In other words, the Filipinos educational background must be globally relevant and world class so that they could compete in any field anywhere in the world and at anytime.

The quest of excellence is one of the fundamental aspirations of developed civilization. This desire for excellence pervades every aspect of lives. It is the nature to reach for beyond our present stage into our expanding visions of opportunity.

In preparation for globalization, ensuring the quality education is the answer. The goal of education is to fill the needs of the students today and if the teachers are expected to perform the role, the real value may be attached to student perception of teacher effectiveness. Thus, it cannot be denied that the teacher is a vital force behind the holistic education of an individual. The teacher plays an important and indispensable role in imparting knowledge and inculcation of values.
