Education of Filipinos comes a long way back from the time when only the privileged ones given the chance to learn specially in a formal school.
Recalling our history during the last quarter of Spanish regime, only the likes of our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal et al. Were able to study in prestigious schools in our country. This happened simply because they came from very influential and well-to-do families. To this day, poverty is never a hindrance if one wants to be educated. The government lets it’s people to be functionally literate. It is a well-known fact that our country’s economy depends on its people’s performance. Free education is offered in public elementary and high school campuses all over the country. The government also provides TESDA. These projects create opportunities for people to work locally or in foriegn shores.
For noveau rich families ,world class education is beyond reach locally and abroard. Ivy League schools in the country such as La Salle and Ateneo De Manila Universaty are available in our nation’s capital. These schools have many branches along the countryside. International schools are also available to children of foreign diplomats/ citizens or even local nationals who can afford the fees required. They can also send their children to study anywhere else around the globe. Whether to study culinary in France, take-up law in England or maybe pursue Masters in Harvard University in the U. S.
Indeed, if one wants to have education, success in life is never impossible. But that does not mean it’s a sure guarantee that if oone is educated, he/she is autmatically going to succeed in life. There’s a fact that even the ones’ who haven’t finish their educatioon, have achieved so much in life. Take the likes of Bill Gates, billionaire chairman of Microsoft, Mark Zuckerberg, billionaire create behind Facebook, these guys never finished their college and yet they’re among the richest people in the world. Just bear in mind that education is not a complete process but a continuing study in all aspects, as life goes on…..
