For the past two years, COVID-19 has brought a great effect in the education system. However, this must not hinder the learners from learning. Everyone must adjust on the so-called “new normal”. This is a transition from face-to-face class to virtual/online class; from four corners of classroom to four corners of monitor; from pen and paper to keyboard and mouse; from keeping quiet of noisy learners to muting their microphones; from chalk and board to self-learning modules and activity sheets.
Everything was changed. Everything was closed—from schools to establishments to buildings and to communities. But still, the top priority of education is to provide quality education to our learners. Therefore, the Department of Education provides different learning modalities such as the distance learning, blended learning and home schooling. Under the distance learning are the modular learning, online learning and tv and radio-based learning. The department also provides trainings for teachers to equip them in using and integrating the technology in teaching and learning. Teachers also dedicated their effort and time to write and produce quality-made learning materials, self-learning modules and activity sheets that can be used before classes begin. Indeed, those school years have been a great challenge not only for our learners but also to the whole education system.
But today, we are starting to adapt and able to go back with what we are doing before. Face-to-face classes are starting but still health protocols should always be observed. But at least, we are advancing and doing our best for the future of our learners with this so-called “new normal”
