Department of Education(DepEd) increases its subsidy for students who are enrolled in private school under the GASTPE program.(Government Assistance For Students and Teachers in Private Education).

Each student will receive P7,500.00 per year which is P1,000.00 bigger than the amount last school year of P6,500.00.

The said amount is for participating private school outside Metro Manila for the SY 2014-2015.

Secretary Br. Armin Luistro said that it is mandated to provide every Filipino child with access to quality education and the decision in the influx of the tuition subsidy is under the education Service Contracting(ESC).

ESC is a scheme under the Government Assistance For Students and Teachers in Private Education(GASTPE) wherein the government subsidizes the tuition fee of student who want to pursue secondary education in private school. It is jointly implemented program of the DepEd and the FAPE (Fund For Assistance to Private Education).

It is a government commitment to the society to maintain the viability of private education as key partner in the quality of education for every Filipino.
