In leading people you must have traits of effective leader. There are many factors that contribute to effective leadership, and I will address three of them here. An effective leader is crucial to any successful schools whether it’s private or public.
The first characteristic of effective leadership is charisma. Charisma is a trait found in persons whose personalities are characterized by a personal charm and magnetism (attractiveness), along with innate and powerfully sophisticated abilities of interpersonal communication and persuasion. One who is charismatic is said to be capable of using their personal being, rather than just speech or logic alone, to interface with other human beings in a personal and direct manner, and effectively communicate an argument or concept to them. For example why lots of T.V. personalities won in our political arena, not just they always seen in T.V. but because of their charisma. Like our former president “Joseph Estrada” he won because of his charisma to the masses.
Secondly, a leader must have excellent communication skills. He must be comfortable running meetings and making presentations. His presentation skills have to be excellent, and be able to convey accurately the essence of the subject at hand and be able to address any ambiguities before they come up. Such communication skills will have to be learned along the way to being a good leader or manager.
Thirdly, a leader must have Integrity. Integrity is a concept of consistency of actions, values, methods, measures, principles, expectations and outcomes. In western ethics, integrity is regarded as the quality of having an intuitive sense of honesty and truthfulness in regard to the motivations for one’s actions. Integrity can be regarded as the opposite of hypocrisy, in that it regards internal consistency as a virtue, and suggests that parties holding apparently conflicting values should account for the discrepancy or alter their beliefs.
Personal integrity is a strongly held sense of commitment to openness, honesty, inclusiveness and high standards in undertaking the leadership role. Their Personal integrity enables leaders in the service to deal fairly, and communicate consistently, with service users, staff, and partners. This means that they do their best to ensure open access to information and that diversity is respected. Motivated by a personal value about inclusiveness, effective leaders promote and model the openness needed in patient and career relationships. Their integrity guides them when decision making is difficult and it underpins the confidence needed to take tough and radical action, even in the face of opposition. It helps them cope where the achievement of a goal that is about real service improvement in the long term appears, at least in the short term, to be disadvantageous to some groups.
The teacher must possess the characteristic of an effective leader such as charisma, excellent communication skills and integrity. For her to leads her pupils to have better values and best future ahead of them.
I have enclosed three important characteristics of an effective leader. Although there are many more characteristics of effective leadership, I believe that these are three crucial factors that will have to be learned by anyone who wishes to become a great leader. These characteristics can be learnt by anyone, whether they are currently an effective leader or not, however, this is not something that you learn in school.
And thus I close this with a quote from John F. Kennedy
“Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.”
