1.Leader must know his subordinates – A leader must know the traits and qualities of his subordinates in order to properly deal with each of them. Each individual has its own weaknesses and strengths if a leader knows these, he can utelize his strentghs and support and use good motivation to overcome for his weaknesses.
2.Leader must consult with his subordinates and keep the channel of communication open and clear – As the saying goes “ two heads is better than one”, a leader can consult subordinates in some matters not for a second opinion but for an additional ideas that could help him decide or solve problems with a much better solutions.
3.Leader must set a consistent example- To be a good leader you must also be a good follower, if you are implementing discipline the leader must be the role model in following the implemented policies of the institution.
5.Leader oversees institution policies and division of tasks and make good and timely decisions- Successful leader also includes looking at institution policies and division of tasks. Any manager or leader who tries to run the company alone without delegating authority and responsibility will find himself working alone. A careful divison of responsibility in a well organized institutionis necessary so that each person may function in his or her department to the fullest potential. This is also transferring the leaders knowledge as legacy to them because there will come a time that he may retire but still institution will run smoothly because people are trained well.
6. Leader must recognized subordinates talents and capabilities and encourage them to use it – People in an organization sometimes needs to be motivated in order to give their best or do something for their professional growth. Everyone wanted to achieve something for himself like being promoted in a position but sometimes need to be encouraged and motivated in order to enhance his talent.
7. Leader must take responsibility for his mistakes – Any leader may commit mistakes like reacting hastily, calculate incorrectly or come up with a wrong decisions. When this happens rather than cover it up or refusing to admit it, go to the person to say sorry and ask for forgiveness. You can discuss the next step you need to take to resolve the situation. By admitting your mistake people will respect and love you more. When a leader functions effectively people know they can trust him and there are no limits to their love and respect or willingness to submit and support his leadershipbecause he has proved himself as their best leader.
