The Filipinos most especially the young ones in the new generation are very fortunate because finally the full implementation of the K to 12 Program has been realized.
Under Republic Act 10533, the K to 12 Program emerged. It is the Enhanced K to 12 Basic Education Program. It is the step of the Philippine government to improve the system of education in our country. Thus, it is improving the quality of education.
The K to 12 Program entails a mandatory kindergarten education for at least 5 years old. Then it is preceded by six years in elementary education and four years in junior high school. Significantly, two more years was added in order to deal with different specialization of students in the senior high school.
K to 12 Curriculum advocates preparation for college education, work and business. Moreover, the learners are being transformed to be well-equipped and globally abreast and competitive.
This program of education was adopted for the reason of meeting the world standard for in the past experiences of Filipinos when they went to other countries a lot of them were not being fully recognized because of the 10 years of basic education that they had. The global standard for basic education is twelve years and that is why the government strengthened the battle cry for a better curriculum.
Additionally, K to 12 Program works for the holistic development of the child through spiral progression. The child is being trained from simple to complex in order to develop and grow fully.
Before Filipinos were apprehensive of K to 12 Program for they thought that it would just prolong the stay of students in the basic education and it was jjust an additional burden to the parents. But this wrong notion was eventually changed and corrected for they now see the benefits.
One thing that is remarkable in K to 12 Education is that it works not only for the individual gain but also for the country’s economic advantage for in K to 12 Program we produce better quality graduates and workforce.
When we say K to 12 we mean advancement and progress. Our people will be led to develop, grow and advance. Our country is also meeting the high expectations of our counterparts thus reaching the goal of progress
Now that we have the K to 12 Program in the Philippine educational system, it is indeed proper to fully embrace it for the sake of our students and of our nation as well.
Let’s all embrace K to 12 Program for it the answer in producing better people!
