All graduates in teacher education know this words, lifelong learning. Words like gradual and painful are always anchored to learning as really it is from behavioral learning to conceptual learning. Great thing is year by year there are always who graduate from teacher education and the number of passers per board exam is exceeding in addition to the fact that many are filing for teacher’s board exam. The hardest truth that each graduate of teacher education should accept is studying and learning is doubled when they are already in the field. There are late at night paperworks, reviewing the subject matter, preparation for exercises, quizzes and activities, and attending different seminars, trainings and workshops for two, three, ten days or one month that even vacations and weekends become work days.
We are all living in a progressive world with everything that is only permanent is “change”. Teachers age so as what they also know. Education progresses. Even facts change. The way to keep every teacher going and functioning is learning. A teacher can learn outside the box, outside his comfort zone, where there are so many professionals, doctor of education that are really studying different kinds of assessment, activities applicable for different kinds of learners, strategies that can be used to present a concept and make students become interested. A day or two or maybe a month away from home can mean so much in every life of a teacher though some strategies are not applicable to two different kinds of learners at least teachers are being equipped with new skills that can be used in teaching. Another best thing that seminars and training can offer is they give a wide opportunity for teachers to learn from others who might have a different experience on his work environment that will help the latter to gain idea just in case he faces the same experience in his work environment. Moreover, teachers can learn new trends that are used in education not literally to be ‘in’ but to go along with the progress in education as children become more intelligent nowadays.
The next time many teachers complain about a whole seminar far from home, they should keep in mind that it is always great that the element of surprise come from them not the other way around with their students.
