Speaking skill is powerful for it is an effective instrument to convey significant messages to several people.  To be able to improve and enhance English communication skill and achieve speaking prowess on the part of the students the teacher must consider the following means:

Love the language. First and foremost, inspire your students to love the universal language.  Having wholeheartedly accepted and embraced the language will enable one to acquire it fully.

Teach the standard way of speaking. The students have to learn the proper way of pronouncing words and be able to meet the standard in speaking.  Proper stress, phrasing and intonation would contributory to a much pleasant and acceptable speaking.

Shift to the corporate world. Let the students imitate the way the people in the corporate world communicate. The usual conversations being employed in actual work are helpful to students for they also apply the same ways in their work in the near future.

Developfluency. The fluency of students in grammar and language may be an asset to them in developing speaking power. The people who can speak articulately can be more understandable and also be more admirable.

Have a regular practice. The saying that “Practice makes perfect” is directly applicable to this because before the speaking prowess be achieved ultimately it requires first regular and constant practice.

Be it a part of regular conversation. Since the school is the heart for learning, let it be the laboratory and training group in the development of speaking. Speaking prowess is much advanced in the school for we interact with more professional and educated people.

            Impart them the love for reading.  Whether reading silently and loudly, both contribute to the development of speaking ability. Your vocabulary and understanding will be widened once you consider books and various reading materials.

            Listen to experts.  Have the students be exposed to seminars and symposia with brilliant resource speakers. This way may not only expand their knowledge but also imbibe the speaking abilities of others.

            Developing speaking prowess may be made easily by the teachers for the students to enjoy and savor every second in communicating.
