Most families would like to see their children succeed, and one way that parents feel that they can encourage the academic progress might be by becoming involved in the education process. Teachers and parents play a big role in increasing the student academic achievement.
According to studies, when families and schools work together, students do better in school and in life, teacher morale improves, parents become empowered, schools get better and communities grow stronger.
Schools might find it beneficial to have parents and family members volunteer as tutors, aides or other classroom resources, such as guest speakers. This volunteer service is important because it allows teachers and administrators to provide more one on one attention to students.
Families can work to implement appropriate study habits at home to improve performance at school. Families can also show the importance of education by participating in their own continuing education activities.
