Most teachers believe that there is always room for improvement. Teaching the students to enter into the reading experience or reading scenario is always a problem to some teachers because most learners are afraid or ashamed even just to stand in front holding a book. With some of these strategies reading is no longer a trouble with students as well as with the teachers. This is quite different from a simple picking up a book, turning the pages from one to another like the usual traditional way.
A number of things can happen before a reader frame a mindset and prime the brain to comprehend an information it is about to delve. The environment has a vital role for a successful reading activity too.
Here are some good ideas to hone reading skills:
-create a well- organized reading environment with various books labeled in different genres -provide students not only books but magazines, periodicals, brochures and the like
-display positive signs, posters, charts, and other decorative and colorful word designs that can motivate the interest of the students to read
-set up other materials like colorful markers, word tiles, pens, letter puppets, and word games to promote reading and writing
-set up area with pillows and soft couch good for group reading where readers can enjoy and feel at ease
-make the environment well ventilated and well-lighted for a better reading activity
With this reading physical arrangement, it can be very powerful and motivating to learners to indulge to reading
Creating a good reading environment where students feel good, productive, energized and safe gives a picture of an enhanced reading skill.
