Our science department waited for two years without having a head, someone was only in-charge leading us, and finally God heard our prayers and we have a new head today. If you are one of this experiencing in this new career, I will share to you some seven principles in one of the articles I have read.
- If one hurts you, first try to figure out whether it is intentional in public service, “Bawal ang pusong mamon.” The best thing to do is to adjust and not to attack. Remember: To attack is to drive a force in the opposite direction. Two opposing forces when they collide produce a third resultant force.
- Anyone who loves his opinion more than he loves his brother will defend his own opinion and destroy his own brothers. In correcting another, do not do it in front of the other people because it will humiliate him. Instead call him and bring him to a place free from eavesdropper so that openness will prevail. Touch his heart and not his pride.
- To handle yourself, use your head, and to handle others, use your heart. To be in DepEd is a relation building business. If our relationship with our pupils/teachers or stakeholders is strong, we can advance our mandate and vision, our country, and the interest of the next generation. Remember: Govern not by your pride but rather by your heart.
- Our pupils/teachers and stake- holders do not care how much we know, until they know how much we care. Walk an extra mile in doing your job. If somebody asks for your assistance and there after you have the opportunity to contact him, make a follow-up. Ask what happened after you rendered service.
- Love will find a way; indifference will find success. Those who do not love their work are not happy, you will not be effective.
- Faults are thick when love is thin. Small mistakes can be a huge cloud you do not love your job Remember: Our job satisfies our needs so we should love our job for it may run away from us.
- You will be surprised how much can be accomplished or achieved when nobody claims the credit. Work for the good of those under you, not for the praise. Remember: Accomplishments give true happiness for those who really work for it.
