The proverb “Health is wealth” is among the most well-known. The proverb is one that we hear practically daily. But to what extent have we regarded health as life’s greatest gift? Humans often don’t realize something is valuable until after they lose it.
We agree that materialistic wealth does give comfort and happiness but it cannot bring complete happiness. Only good health can. Without good health, one cannot feel happy and complete. To be happy and enjoy life, one needs to be healthy. Money lost can be earned again but it is not so in the case of health. A good health once lost cannot be recovered easily unlike other materialistic wealth. In short, bad health can impact one’s wealth and the ability or the chances to live a wealthy life.
As everyone knows, one’s health is one’s greatest asset. Good health is the most important prerequisite for any individual to advance, as American philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson stated in 1860 in “The first wealth is health.” Without health, wealth—no matter how much or what kind of materialistic wealth one possesses—is worthless because, after all, what good is it to have wealth if one cannot enjoy it?
A healthy person, for example, can save money on medical bills, but a sick person must spend their hard-earned money on medical bills instead of enjoying the fruits of their labor. If a person is ill, wealth is meaningless. Imagine being wealthy enough to buy anything and everything you want, but your health prevents you from doing so. What a catastrophe that would be!
A healthy individual is more productive than an unhealthy one, which is another reason why maintaining excellent health is crucial. He is more likely to make more money and spend it on hobbies and pleasures. However, an unhealthy person lacks the willpower and self-assurance to work as hard and productively as a healthy person, which has an impact on his work and, consequently, his revenue sources. A sick individual is also frequently questioned about his loyalty and genuineness. A person can only muster the strength to put in the necessary effort and accomplish his goals when he is well. However, it is challenging for someone who is weak and fragile to put in a lot of effort, keep their word, or pursue their goals.
It might be difficult to maintain excellent health, particularly when you have a hectic schedule, but it’s crucial to prioritize leading a healthy lifestyle.
To keep excellent health, one must do a number of things, including eating well, sleeping on time, exercising, and drinking water on a regular basis. The World Health Organization (WHO) suggests eating a diet high in fruits and vegetables, limiting fat, sugar, and salt, and getting regular exercise to guarantee a healthy lifestyle. Most importantly, though, keep in mind that maintaining an active lifestyle and exercising are good for one’s health at any age.
